Welcome!

Hello and welcome to my personal website! I have professional writing experience for both animated television and pop culture blogging. I also have extensive post-production and video/digital media experience. If you're looking for a talented animation writer, a review or critique for your professional online outlet, or someone to make sure your final videos look perfect, please don't hesitate to contact me!

About me

When I was young, I’ve always been fascinated by animation – the wacky slapstick, the audacious world-building, the unique characters, the multitudes of looks, styles, techniques, and details that bring them to life. I watched a ton of animated shows with my father, who enjoyed them as much as I did, which only added to my affection for them. I never quite developed the artistic ability for animation, but I knew that I wanted to immerse myself in it. Writing was my answer.

I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2007, and I got my first position for an ad agency the following year as a video librarian. This began my career in post-production. Originally working with old school stock like digibetas, D5s, and HDCAMs, I was there through the process of transferring everything into digital formats, managing databases, and archiving. Soon I was working with Adobe CC, Resolve, and even Autodesk Flame: ingesting footage, building sizzle reels, cleaning up graphics, creating captions/subtitles, and producing videos formatted for broadcast, social media, 3rd-party vendors, and so on. I have mastered the post-production process, but I’m always willing to learn more. I even dabbled extensively with Unity and Blender; I’m always looking to expand my skills!

Yet I still kept writing. I kept a constant workflow of specs and original scripts, Keeping my skills up. I starting blogging, which caught the attention of several professionals in the field. This led me to freelance work for both The AVClub and Den of Geek. I developed my critical voice working for those sites, which I loved. I also managed to nail two professional TV writing gigs: Love Monster for CBeebies, and Wolfboy and the Everything Factory for AppleTV+. The recent downturn of the industry slowed me down (along with many of us in this industry) but I’m always working on the next thing!

I promised myself that if I graduated from high school still loving animation, I would do everything I could to get into the field. I’ve achieved that promise, and I intend to keep that energy up!
